UptimeRobot
UptimeRobot watches whether a URL answers. MetricPoints watches whether the client site works.
UptimeRobot is an uptime monitor. It is the right tool when the question is whether a URL responds, a keyword is present, a certificate is nearing expiry, or a status page should change. MetricPoints starts from a different question.
The ping is not the account
An agency loses the account when leads or sales stop, not only when a homepage times out. A contact form can show success, and a checkout can return HTTP 200, while the business path is broken. UptimeRobot is not trying to be the portfolio for that work.
MetricPoints includes availability, then adds the paths, evidence, and incidents an agency has to explain. It is a poor replacement if all you need is a ping. It is the better fit when you manage client sites and a green check is not proof.
- Use UptimeRobot for a fast uptime check and a status page.
- Use MetricPoints when several client sites need one operational view.
- A 200 from either tool is not, by itself, a working form or checkout.
A status page is not the client explanation
A status page tells the public whether a URL was up. An agency also has to tell one client what failed: which form, which checkout, what the check showed, and who was notified. That explanation belongs in the portfolio, next to the other client sites, not on a status page.
